Lot 293. 75 Different 1940-50s Cards – Wings “Airplanes,” “Magic Photos,” “Crockett,” Etc. With a couple of exceptions, Topps or Bowman issued these cards. A group of 10 1940s cards is from the 1940 T87 Wings Cigarettes “Modern American Airplanes” set, Series “B.” Overall vg-ex. In addition, one card is from Quaker Cereal, 1950 “Sgt. Preston” card #34 ex+. From Topps: 1949 “Magic Photos” (17), eight “American Dogs”; four “Stars of Stage and Screen” including Gable; one “Movie Stars”; one “General Sports”; one “Aviation Pioneers” (Rickenbacker) and two “American Military Leaders.” Photos generally are light but recognizable. Overall vg-ex. 1950 “Freedom’s War” #199 Doolittle (trimmed) p. 1950 “License Plates,” 10 different. Overall f-g. 1952 “Wings” #199 p. 1953 “World on Wheels” #25 g-vg and 92 g. 1956 “Davy Crockett” #10 and 22 both f. 1956 “Jets” #129, 150, 181, 203 and 228. Overall g. 1956 “U.S. Presidents” #23 vg-ex. 1958 “Zorro” #7, 8, 48 and 51. Three are vg-ex and one is vg. 1959 “Fabian” #30 vg and 55 vg-ex. From Bowman: 1950 “Wild West” #A-4, 5, 7 and 11; B-16; E-4 and F-4. Overall p-f. 1953 “Frontier Days” #25 g. 1953 “Television and Radio of the National Broadcasting Co.,” #46 and 50 (Loretta Young) both vg-ex. And 10 “Magic Action Trading Cards” from Plastic Processes Inc. These cards average vg-ex.
