 Lot 245. Bert Sugar’s Hat. Almost everywhere that Bert Sugar went, his fedora hat was sure to go. His hat and his cigar were his trademarks, along with some of the best writing the boxing world has ever seen. This Italian Worth & Worth Allegro size 7 1/8 fedora is from his estate. There is one tiny hole in the brim toward the back. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition. Accompanying the hat is a letter of authenticity signed by Mrs. Sugar. It says that the hat is from Sugar’s collection.

 Lot 246. Bert Sugar’s Typewriter. In a writing career that spanned six decades, Sugar created advertising copy and sports articles on several keyboards. This circa 1980 Smith Corona Coronet XL Coronamatic electric typewriter is one of them. He likely used it in writing for “Ring” magazine and producing sections for “100 Years of Boxing.” In working condition, it would benefit from a good cleaning and a new ribbon. It comes with a letter of authenticity, signed by Mrs. Sugar, saying it is from Sugar’s collection.

 Lot 247. Original “Ring” 75th Anniversary Painting with Ali and Sugar Distinctive Caricatures. From Sugar’s collection, this colorful 18” x 24.25” gouache original represents a scene from “Ring” magazine’s 75th anniversary celebration in Atlantic City. Sugar edited the periodical from 1979-83. Prominently featured in the painting, a magazine “cover” refers to the Spinks-Cooney fight in 1987 and to Ali’s Hall of Fame induction in 1990. Ali is on the cover, and in the crowd at what apparently is a reception. Sugar is depicted with his omnipresent hat and cigar. Don King is among the figures captured by artist Borie Dornl. This one-of-a-kind artwork is rolled, ex-m and a serious attention-grabber!
