Lot 281. “Don Dunphy at Ringside” Autographed First Edition Book. Dunphy was one of boxing’s most recognizable voices. During his career, he broadcast more than 2,000 fights. For his excellence, he was inducted into the American Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class, the National Radio Hall of Fame and the International Boxing Hall of Fame. In his book, he describes his career in boxing and provides details from many fights, including the Joe Louis-Billy Conn championship bout. His signature, dated 3/8/93, follows a lengthy personalized inscription on the first title page. Authenticated by Kevin Keating, the autograph is mint 9. The 1988 stated first edition hardback is ex-m, and the dust jacket, vg+ to ex. Dunphy passed away in 1998 a couple of weeks after his 90th birthday.
