Lot 292. Autograph of Larry Young, Two-Time Olympic Medalist and Sculptor. Young is the last American to medal in the Olympics walking competition. He captured bronze medals in the 50-kilometer (about 31 miles) walk at the 1968 and 1972 Games. The winner of 30 national titles, Young won eight U.S. crowns at 50 kilometers. In 1972, he won eight national titles at various distances from two to 100 miles. He also the gold medalist at 50 kilometers in the 1967 and 1971 Pan American Games. A full-time artist since the 1970s, Young has placed more than 50 monumental outdoor sculptures both in the U.S. and internationally. His autograph is nm 7 to nm-m 8 above a 6β x 5β photo in a 1972 issue of the βNew York Times.β Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
