 Lot 6. Bold Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier Autographs on a “Sports Illustrated” Cover. Ali and Frazier are pictured on the cover of the Sept. 15, 1975 issue with promoter Don King, the subject of an article inside. When two of boxing’s best heavyweights met two weeks later in the Philippines, Ali scored a TKO and retained his world heavyweight title. Both Ali and Frazier placed bold signatures on the cover of the magazine. Both autographs are mint 9 to gem mint 10. Kevin Keating authenticated the signatures.  Lot 7. First Edition of “The Fight” Signed by Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The signatures of these Hall of Fame heavyweight champions are on the title page of the Norman Mailer 1975 stated first edition. Both are mint 9. Mailer’s book deals with the “Rumble in the Jungle,” the 1974 title bout between Ali and George Foreman in Zaire in 1974. The hardback book is ex in an ex dust jacket.  Lot 256. Muhammad Ali Autographed July 26, 1971 “Sports Illustrated.” Ali placed a mint 9 signature next to his superb portrait on the cover of this issue. Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph. A Tex Maule article asserts that Ali seems to have little interest in his upcoming fight with Jimmy Ellis. Nevertheless, Ali scored a TKO to capture the vacant North American Boxing Federation heavyweight championship.

 Lot 257. Muhammad Ali Signature on the Cover of the April 14, 1980 “Sports Illustrated.” Mint 9 autograph authenticated by Kevin Keating. Mint 9 autograph on an Oct. 13, 1980 cover photo showing a dejected and beaten Ali following his Oct. 2 loss to Larry Holmes. The magazine devotes 12 pages to the fight and Ali’s career.  Lot 259. Muhammad Ali Autographed Biography Signed Also by Boxer-Author José Torres. Ali signed the title page of “Sting Like a Bee: The Muhammad Ali Story,” and so did the author, fellow Boxing Hall of Fame member José Torres. The 1971 hardback book is vg-ex in a g+ price-clipped dust jacket. Norman Mailer wrote the preface to the book, and LeRoy Neiman illustrated it with sketches. At the 1956 Olympics, Torres won the silver medal in the middleweight competition. As a pro, he held the light heavyweight championship in 1966 and 1967. Later, he served as president of the World Boxing Organization. He died in 2009. Copies of this book signed by both Ali and Torres are rare.

 Lot 261. Muhammad Ali Autographed “I Am King.” Ali added an nm-m 8 signature to the first page inside this 128-page1975 magazine-format photographic biography by David King. The 8.5” x 11” page proclaims, in red type on a yellow background, “Ali boma ye!” The translation from the Lingala language of Zaire is “Ali kill him,” which is what the crowd chanted as Ali entered the ring from the “Rumble in the Jungle” with George Foreman. This “illustrated biography” contains 111 pages of text and photos covering Ali from his boyhood through his epic championship fight in Zaire with George Foreman. Vg+ to ex book.
