Lot 4.  Autographs of Army Football Stars Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis on Index Cards. Together, they were known as the “Touchdown Twins,” and they won back-to-back Heisman Trophies. Blanchard, “Mr. Inside,” was named the nation’s top college player in 1945, and Davis, “Mr. Outside,” captured the award in 1946. They led Army to three consecutive national championships. Their coach, Red Blaik, called Blanchard “the quickest starter I ever saw” and Davis, “the greatest halfback I ever knew.” Davis died in 2005, and Blanchard, 2009. Their signatures are gem mint 10 on separate unlined index cards, which are accompanied by two modern photos, each showing the Army backfield heroes. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 5.  Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris and Chuck Noll Autographs on a John Stallworth Jersey. The three Hall of Fame Steelers signed the numbers on the back of the size large jersey. All three signers were members of the Steelers’ four Super Bowl championship teams in the 1970s. Their autographs are nm-m 8 and have been authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 205.  Wilson Football Signed by 25 Football Stars – Butkus, Starr, Etc. The autographs are on the three white panels of a Wilson Official NFL Rozelle football. The signers include Dick Butkus, Bart Starr, Don Maynard, John Pitts, Ollie Matson, Yale Lary, Babe Parelli, Jerry Mertens, Bobby Bell, Ben Hawkins, Tom Fears, Bob Babich, Leo Nomellini, Don Colo, Jerry Kramer, Dan Manucci, Bob Kohrs and Les Josephson. The signatures average ex-m 6, while the ball is mint. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 206.  Drew Bledsoe Signature on a New England Patriots Jersey. From 1993-2001, Bledsoe was a four-time Pro Bowl quarterback. He led the Patriots to AFC titles in 1996 and 2001 and to the Super Bowl XXXVI championship. His autograph is nm 7 to nm-m 8 on the front of the Starter size 52 jersey, which has Bledsoe’s name on the back. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 207.  Red Grange Signed Index Card. Bold personalized mint 9 autograph by the College and Pro Hall of Fame halfback who helped to “make” the NFL. Grange died in 1991. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 208.  Bert Jones Autographed 8” x 10” B&W Photo. Quarterback for the Baltimore Colts from 1973-81, Jones was selected as the NFL MVP in 1976 by AP and two other organizations. In 1972, he was an All-American at LSU. His signature, personalized to “William,” is nm-m 8 to mint 9. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 209.  Jim Kelly Signed Buffalo Bills Jersey. The Hall of Fame quarterback placed a mint 9 autograph on the “2” on the front of the XL jersey by Logo Athletic. The jersey, without Kelly’s name on the back, is nm-m. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 210.  Dan Marino Gem Mint 10 Autograph on an 8” x 10” Color Photo. The photo is part of a 12” x 15” plaque that recognizes “Dan the Man” as the “Greatest QB in NFL History” and lists some of his records. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 212.  Ernie Nevers (HoF) Autograph on an Unlined Index Card. Nevers was one of the early stars of the fledgling National Football League. A star at Stanford and the hero of the 1925 Rose Bowl, he played fullback for the Duluth Eskimos and Chicago Cardinals. In a 1929 game against the Chicago Bears featuring Red Grange, Nevers scored all of the Cardinals’ points in a 40-6 victory. He also played baseball for the St. Louis Browns. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1963. He died in 1976. Authenticated by Kevin Keating, his autograph is mint 9 to gem mint 10. A Sportscaster card with Nevers’ image is included.

Lot 213.  Ray Nitschke Autographed Index Card. Nitschke (died 1998) had a Hall of Fame career at middle linebacker for the Green Bay Packers, 1958-72. Mint 9 autograph authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 214.  Refrigerator Perry and Tom Waddle Autographed 8” x 10” Color Photos. Each Chicago Bears star signed two photos presenting his image. An All-American defensive lineman at Clemson, Perry became a fan favorite in Chicago. Because of his size, he was known as the “Refrigerator,” or simply the “Fridge.” He helped the Bears to win Super Bowl XX in 1986. He signed two different photos as “William Perry” and added “The Fridge.” A wide receiver for the Bears from 1989-94, Waddle is now a sportscaster in Chicago and on ESPN. He autographed two photos the same. The four autographs are mint 9 and have been authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 215.  Gale Sayers Autographed OML Selig Baseball. No, we have no idea why the “Kansas Comet” signed a baseball. But it’s a very strong signature, and a baseball does take less space to display than a football. The signature is mint 9 to gem mint 10 on the sweet spot, and the ball is mint. Playing for the Chicago Bears, Sayers became close friends with Brian Piccolo, subject of the movie “Brian’s Song.” He is in both the Pro and College Football Halls of Fame. Now chairman of a Fortune 1000 company, he has been widely recognized for his philanthropic efforts. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 216.  Dick Vermeil Autographed 1982 Program Cover with His Image. As head coach, Vermeil won the 1980 NFC Championship with the Philadelphia Eagles and Super Bowl XXXIV for the 1999 season with the St. Louis Rams. His achievements include being named “Coach of the Year” at four different levels – high school, junior college, NCAA Division I and the NFL. He also coached successfully at UCLA. Vermeil retired at the conclusion of the 2005 season. His signature is nm-m 8 on a program for a 1982 “roast”; proceeds benefitted the Spina Bifida Foundation. The 20-page program is ex. Lot 217.  5 Photos Signed by Rams – Fears (HoF), Jones (HoF), Gabriel, Rubley, Kennison. The autographs, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are mint 9 or gem mint 10 on 8” x 10” photos. Tom Fears (died 2000) and Deacon Jones had Hall of Fame careers with the Rams in Los Angeles. Roman Gabriel was the NFL’s top player in 1969, and one of the league’s leading quarterbacks in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He is in the College Football Hall of Fame. T. J. Rubley and Eddie Kennison played in the 1990s for the St. Louis Rams. Fears autographed a sepia photo; the others signed color photos.
