Pittsburgh Sports - Condors and Spirit   2 Lots

Lot 250.  1971-72 ABA Pittsburgh Condors Pennant, Pin, 1970-71 Schedule. Playing as the Pipers in 1967-68 and 1969-70, Pittsburgh was a charter member of the American Basketball Association. Based on a contest among Pittsburgh area residents, the owners renamed the team the Condors for the 1970-71 season. The Condors’ mascot is shown on the cover of a 1970-71 schedule. Vg+ to ex. The team mascot and logo was redesigned for the 1971-72 season. The new logo is on a 2 ¼” pin with ribbons and basketball attached. F-g. A scarce 9” x 23” pennant also features the new logo design. Ex-m.
Winning Bid $102.

Lot 251.  Pittsburgh Spirit Autographed Soccer Ball, Pennant, Cup and Schedules. From 1981-86, the Spirit competed in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Memorabilia from team is very scarce, and multi-signed items are downright rare. The Spirit soccer ball, which also promotes Coke, is signed by 16, including 10 members of the 1984-85 team: Steve Buttle, Paul Child, Dave Hoggan, Dave MacKenzie, David McNiven, Piotr Mowlik, Stan Terlecki, Paul Toomey, Adam Topolski and Roger Wynter. Kevin Keating authenticated these signatures, which are bold in thick sharpie. One of the additional signatures is by Bobby Campbell. A scarce full-sized pennant is also part of this collection. It is free of tack or pin holes. Vg+ to ex. Also, a 7” plastic cup promoting the Spirit and the Pittsburgh Penguins, six 1982-83 schedules and two 1983-84 schedules. Ex-m to nm.
Winning Bid $75.
