Lot 27. 5 1880s Trade Cards – Red Border and Bluish-Green Series, Merchant’s Gargling Oil. The H804-15A representative is “An Anxious Moment.” These cards have a red border and a period after the number “9.” This example has a vg appearance while grading f with a small hole in the lower left. The back promotes the Boston Clothing Co. The Bluish-Green H804-17 card, “A Home Run,” is g-vg. It has “313” in the lower right corner and promotes an Ohio stove company on the back. The H804-7C cards are “A close Affair. Hugging the Bat.”; “Bravo! The Pet of the Nine.”; and “The Hero of a Home Run, the Ladies Favorite.” The figures in these cards, set against a tan background, have red belts, socks and hats and white uniforms. Gies & Co. of Buffalo is the lithographer. They grade vg-ex.
