Lot 171. Nick Altrock Vintage Fountain Pen Autograph. For three seasons, 1904-06, Altrock was one of the better pitchers in the majors. In those three seasons, he won 62 games, lost 39 and helped the 1906 Chicago White Sox, the “Hitless Wonders,” to win a World Series. From 1912-53, he was part of the Washington Senators’ coaching staff. Famous for his antics in the coaching box, he helped Al Schacht to become “the Clown Prince of Baseball.” J. G. Taylor Spink campaigned to get Altrock into the Hall of Fame. Altrock died in 1965. His signature is a 10 on a 3.5” x 5.5” section of paper that contains his Sports Co. of America Champions card.
