Lot 123. Country Music Autographs – Homer & Jethro, the Gatlin Brothers, Etc. The autographs in this collection are by Homer & Jethro, the Gatlin Brothers, Jimmy Dean (died 2010) and Bill Anderson. Homer & Jethro – Henry Haynes (d. 1971) and Ken Burns (d. 1989) – created a successful career by writing and singing parodies popular songs from the 1940s-60s. In 1959, they won a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Performance - Musical for satirizing the Johnny Horton song “The Battle of New Orleans” as “The Battle of Kookamonga”. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. Their autographs, as “Homer & Jethro,” are on an 8” x 10” black & white photo personalized to Tommy. The autographs are 10s. Separately, Jethro sent John a signed handwritten, undated note on the duo’s stationery. Another 8” x 10” b&w photo is signed by Larry Gatlin and his brothers, Steve and Rudy. The brothers were one of country music’s most successful acts of the 1970s and 1980s. The autographs, personalized, range from nm 7 to mint 9. Bill (Anderson) signed his first name on a typed 1990 letter. Jimmy Dean autographed the back of a promotional card from the Landmark in Las Vegas. His signature is an 8-9. The collection also includes two unsigned Glenn Campbell items, including a menu with his photo from a performance at the Las Vegas Hilton.
