1957 Dodgers Team Ball Signed by 25 - the LAST Brooklyn Team!
Lot 371. 1957 Dodgers Team Ball Signed by 25 - the LAST Brooklyn Team! The stars are present on this cream-colored nm ball. The strength of their signatures varies. Walt Alston occupies the sweet spot. The east panel has Gil Hodges, John Roseboro and Bob Kennedy; the west, Sandy Amoros, Sal Maglie, Carl Erskine, Don Bessent and Roy Campanella; the south, Carl Furillo, Don Drysdale, Roger Craig, Johnny Podres, Jim Gilliam and Ed Roebuck, and the north, Elmer Valo, Rube Walker, Charlie Neal, Sandy Koufax (very faint), and one too faint to read. The ball has five clubhouse signatures: Reese, Snider, Labine, Cimoli, and Newcombe. Signatures vary in quality. Stronger signatures are by Alston, Podres, Gilliam, Valo and Erskine; they generally are nm 7. Most of the others range from vg 3 to ex 5, with some less, including Koufax. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. An imperfect example of this widely collected team, it boasts several Hall of Famers, including a pre-accident Campanella (g-vg) signed during his very last season!
Winning Bid $264.
