1942 Check Signed by Comedian George Burns and Clarabelle the Cow!?!!!

Lot 459. 1942 Check Signed by Comedian George Burns and Clarabelle the Cow!?!!! Bold gem mint 10 signature by the beloved comedian on the front of a check from “George N. Burns and Grace Allen Burns” dated Nov. 18, 1942. The check is made out to and signed on the back by Elvira Allman, who played “Tootsie Sagwell,” a man-hungry spinster, on Burns’ 1940s radio sitcom. She had played a similar character in a 1938 Bob Hope program. From 1928-42, she provided the voice for Clarabelle the Cow in 28 Disney cartoons; almost 50 years later, she revived the role in “The Prince and the Pauper.” In the 1950s-60s, she appeared on TV in Lucille Ball, Jack Benny and Burns. She died in 1992. In a career that spanned most of the 20th century, Burns re-invented himself several times. He succeeded in vaudeville, radio, television and the movies. He performed until shortly before his death at 100 in 1996. Vintage Burns signatures are scarce.
