Lot 454. 1930s Mutoscope “Bandleaders” Exhibit Set of 32 Cards with Postcard Backs. Sometimes seen as singles, these cards are seldom offered as a complete set. In producing the set, Mutoscope used photos provided by MCA, the Music Corporation of America. Bandleaders pictured are Count Basie, Henry Busse, Bob Crosby, Xavier Cugat, Tommy Dorsey, Eddie Duchin, Shep Fields, Jan Garber, Benny Goodman, Johnny Green, Phil Harris (2 different), Horace Heidt, Richard Himber, Harry James, Sammy Kaye, Wayne King, Kay Kyser, Guy Lombardo, Clyde Lucas, Abe Lyman, Enric Madriguera, Frankie Masters, Glen (Glenn) Miller, Ozzie Nelson, Red Nichols, Red Norvo, Buddy Rogers, Jack Teagarden, Tommy Tucker, Ted Weems and Lawrence Welk. Six cards are ex, and one (Himber) is f-g. The others are graded vg+ to ex because of a small crease in the lower right corner. Almost all are free of creases in the body of the card.
