Lot 447. Display Consisting of 56 Early 1900s Silks – Most with the Image of an Actress. Forty-two silks feature an actress or another female figure. Sets represented include S1 Actresses (several types), S6 Birds, S25 College Seals, S33 National Flags, S60 State Girl and Flower, S80 Women of Ancient Egypt, S86 State Seals and S88 State Maps. Billie Burke, Adele Blood, Hattie Williams, Gertrude Hoffman and Flora Parker (DeHaven) are among the actresses. Each silk has been sown to a black piece of cloth, which is taped to a stiff paper backing. Each has somewhat heavy pink thread along the edges. The display, which is 15” x 20”, has an attractive appearance, which results in part from the absence of stains or other significant blemishes on all but three of the silks.
