Lot 346. Babe Ruth Original May 24, 1935 Photo at Forbes Field. This apparent press photo is dated May 24, 1935 on the back. It shows Ruth looking skyward after connecting with a pitch. Playing for the Boston Braves, Ruth went one-for-four against the Pittsburgh Pirates to improve his average to .153. The next day, he had one of the best days of his career, connecting for three home runs and a single in four at bats and driving in six runs. In another five days, he played his final game. The sepia 7” x 9” vintage, original photo has a 1” tear in the upper right, a couple of heavy creases and a stain below Ruth’s left elbow. It presents a fine image of the Bambino in the final days of his legendary career.
