Lot 341. Baseballs Signed by Yankees Ford (2), One as “Chairman of the Board”, Gossage, Terry. Because of his ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, Ford earned the appellation “Chairman of the Board.” Reportedly, he has sometimes declined to add this notation when signing. He didn’t refuse for our consignor, however. The addition is below his autograph on the sweet spot of a mint OML Selig baseball. Ford’s signature, without any notation, is on another mint Selig ball as well. Goose Gossage signed a mint Selig ball and added “HOF 2008.” Ralph Terry’s autograph is on the sweet spot of a mint ONL William White ball. He wrote “62 W.S. MVP” below the autograph and “NYY 56-57 59-64 All Star ‘67” on the south panel. Kevin Keating authenticated the signatures, which are gem mint 10.
