Tommy John pitched for the White Sox from 1965-71, and his autograph is on each of the three baseballs. 1965: OAL Cronin ball (ex-m), 23 signatures, AL LOPEZ on the sweet spot (SS); north panel, Ted Wills, J. C. Martin, JOHN, John Buzhardt, Tom McCraw, Joe Horlen; south, BILL SKOWRON, Jim Schaffer, Floyd Robinson, Eddie Fisher, Pete Ward, Al Weis; east, Dave Nicholson, Gary Peters, Juan Pizzaro, Ron Hansen, Dan Carter, and west, HOYT WILHELM, Johnny Romano, SMOKY BURGESS, Bruce Howard and Ken Berry. John’s signature is ex-m 6 to nm 7. The others average nm-m 8 to mint 9. 1970: Nm-m White Sox ball, 32 signatures. SS, Chuck Tanner; N, Richie McKinney, Jose Ortiz, LUIS APARICIO, Ed Herrmann, Rich Morales, Joe Horlen, Bob Knoop and one other; S, Wilbur Wood, Carlos May, Duane Josephson, Bill Melton, Barry Moore, Jerry Janeski and Lee Stange; E, LUKE APPLING, Floyd Weaver, Tom McCraw, Steve Hamilton, Ken Berry, Bill Wynne and Walt Williams and one other, and W, JOHN, Don Secrist, John Matias, Syd O’Brien, Jim Magnuson, Gail Hopkins, Chuck Brinkman and Art Kusnyer. While the signatures range from ex-m 6 to gem mint 10, most are 9s and 10s. 1971: Nm-m White Sox ball, 28 signatures. SS, Chuck Tanner; N, Wilbur Wood, Lee Richard, Ed Herrmann, Stan Perzanowski, Chuck Brinkman and Joe Horlen; S, Steve Kealey, Bill Melton, Tom Egan, Tom Bradley, Rick Reichardt, Carlos May and Bob Spence; E, Luke Appling, Steve Huntz, Mike Hershberger, Rich Hinton, Rich McKinney, Bart Johnson and Lonnett, and W, John Sain, JOHN, Jim Magnuson, Luis Alvarado, Rich Morales, Al Monchak and Pat Kelly. The autographs average mint 9 to gem mint 10. Kevin Keating authenticated the signatures on these three baseballs, which come with a signed “From the Desk of Tommy John” letter.
