Lot 113.  23 Tommy John Baseball Books Including a Signed Copy of His Autobiography. This collection includes the paperback version of John’s 1992 book, “T.J.: My 26 Years in Baseball.” His autograph, numbered 43 of 87, is gem mint 10 on the title page of the nm book. Lot 114.  Hoard of 90+ Yankees Publications – Programs, Yearbooks, Media Guides, Etc. The publications in this collection generally are vg+ to ex to nm+. Among them are eight World Series programs, for 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1996, 2000, 2001 and 2003. ALCS programs represent 1980 (2, Munson cover), 1981 (4) and 2001. Yearbooks cover 1979-82, 1986, 1988 and 1989. Regular-season programs are for 1979 (scorecard missing), 1981 vs. Blue Jays, 1982 vs. Blue Jays, Red Sox, Royals (partially scored), Tigers (partially scored) and White Sox, and 1988 vs. Indians. There are spring training programs for 1980, 1982 (2) and 1989. Calendars are part of the collection. A 1982 calendar featuring Bill Martin is loaded with photos from the Miller Lite commercials. Yankees-issued calendars are from 1981, 1982, 1988 (2) and 1989. Thirty-one issues of “Yankees Magazine” are offered, eight in tabloid format from Nov. 9, 1981 to Aug. 16, 1982 and 12 in regular magazine format, from July 17, 1986 to July 2005. Yankees media guides are for 1980, 1982, 1988 and 1991. Yankees are featured on the covers of various periodicals or inside: “New York” magazine, Oct. 13, 1980 with Cerone, Watson, Dent, Gossage and Randolph, on the cover, and April 13, 1981 with George Steinbrenner; “Life,” Oct. 1982, with an article inside on “The Troubled Yankees,” and “Bill Mazeroski’s Baseball ’88,” Don Mattingly on the cover. One hardback book is in the collection, “The Yankees: The Four Fabulous Eras of Baseball’s Most Famous Team” by Dave Anderson, 1980, ex book and dust jacket. Also, four Yankees Homecoming Luncheon or Dinner programs, 1979 1980, 1981 and 1982 (DiMaggio cover); 1979 and 1982 Yankees Picture Albums; a Staten Island Yankees scorecard, and a 1988 “Surf” book from Topps. Finally, three publications honor Mickey Mantle and Catfish Hunter. Mantle is on the covers of the New York “Post” for Aug. 14, 1995 and “Sports Illustrated” for Aug. 21, 1995. Hunter is recognized in a brochure for his day on Sept. 16, 1979, at Yankee Stadium. These publications come with five signed “Property of Tommy John” labels.

Lot 115.  32 1980 or 1996 Media Guides and Other Publications. Ten 1980 media guides average ex to ex-m: Angels, Cardinals, Indians, Orioles, Pirates, Rangers, Red Sox, Royals, Reds and White Sox. Twenty-two 1996 guides average nm: Angels, Astros, Blue Jays, Brewers, Cardinals, Cubs, Expos, Giants, Marlins, Mets, Orioles, Padres, Phillies, Pirates, Rangers, Reds, Red Sox, Rockies, Royals (2), Tigers and White Sox. In addition, the collection includes a 1993 Grapefruit League Spring Training Guide from the Florida Sports Foundation, two 1993 Rawlings Gold Glove Award media guides, a 1996 Rolaids Relief Man Awards media guide and a 1990-91 Cleveland Indians engagement book. Lot 116.  47 Programs, Yearbooks and Other Publications. Among these publications are the inaugural programs for the Florida Marlins (1993) and Colorado Rockies (1998). Ex to ex-m. The Marlins’ program is accompanied by their first media guide and four unused invitations in the original envelope to the their “Kick-Off Party.” Nm-m. John was a guest at the party, and one of the prizes was a day of golf with him and Whitey Ford. Here is a list of the other publications: WORLD SERIES PROGRAMS, 1981 and 2006, nm-m. Lot 117.  50 Tommy John VHS Tapes and 4 Sony Betamax Tapes. These tapes cover a wide range of subjects, including games showing John pitching and events after he retired from baseball. Thirteen are original productions. The rest are copies from television broadcasts and other sources. The originals are “Dodger Grand Slam Jam 1: Pitching” featuring Orel Hershiser, “Dodgers 100th Anniversary,” Dodger Diamond Vision “Heroes of Baseball,” Dodger Diamond Vision “Unforgettable 1992 Oldtimers Day,” “Dodger Stadium: The first 25 Years,” “Greatest Legends of Baseball” (no sleeve), “More Than a Game: Episode 4-12,” “The World Series 1978,” “Major League Baseball Generations of Heroes,” “10 Greatest Moments in Yankees History,” “New York Yankees: The Movie,” “Quickness, Agility & Footwork” by Henry Hines (Tennis) and “Teaching Kids Baseball” with Jerry Kindall (no sleeve). Lot 118.  “The Dodger Way to Play Baseball” and Other Books from Tommy John. Al Campanis, as the Dodgers’ vice president and director of player personnel, wrote “The Dodger Way.” Scarce in any form and any condition, this is the 1954 paperback. The front cover shows impressions from erased scribbles, and the back cover has a tiny edge tear. The interior is ex-m. This group includes another uncommon publication, “A Tribute to Walter F. O’Malley.” This spiral-bound 9.5” x 12” softcover is from a 1972 testimonial sponsored by the City of Hope. It contains biographical information on O’Malley and an abundant number of pages offering best wishes form the “who’s who” of Los Angeles. Ex-m. The other publications are: A comic, “The All-Star Story of the Dodgers,” 1979, vg. “The Los Angeles Dodgers: The First Quarter Century,” Donald Honig, 1983 first edition, ex-m hardback book and dust jacket. “The Los Angeles Dodgers: The First Twenty Years,” Frank Finch, 1975, ex-m/ex. Lot 119.  55+ Dodgers Publications – Programs, Yearbooks, “SI,” Etc. John signed one publication, the Feb. 1973 “Vero Beach Press Journal” “Dodger Edition.” His autograph on the front of the 12-page special section is a 10 of 10. The collection includes World Series programs for 1978 and 1981 (2), vg+ to ex. The Dodgers faced the Yankees in both Series. Three NLCS programs are for 1977 and 1978 vs. the Phils, ex-m, and 1988 vs. the Mets (no back cover). Yearbooks represent 1974 (3) vg+ to ex, 1973 (3) ex-m, 1983 vg-ex and 1990 vg+ to ex.
