Lot 154. “Caught Short” Signed by the Author and Baseball Executive Don Davidson. Only four feet tall, Davidson spent more than 40 years in professional baseball, beginning in 1939 as a batboy for the Boston Braves and Red Sox. In 1948, he joined the Braves’ public relations department. In 1976, he became public relations director for Houston and also served as the club’s traveling secretary and as administrative assistant to the president. Davidson recounts his career in this 1972 hardback, which is ex in a similar dust jacket. He signed the first title page. The signature is a 10, personalized to Marian, whose bookplate is on the flyleaf. Davidson passed away in 1990. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
