Lot 287. 39 Different 1966 A. & B.C. Gum-Topps “Batman” Cards from 4 Sets. The English gum company issued 2 ¼” x 3 ¼” cards featuring Topps’ artwork. The sets parallel the Topps’ versions, except that A. & B.C. produced the black bat-orange back set of 55 with and without a panel promoting a Batman Fan Club. In addition, the British backs seem to be a color that is slightly orange and slightly pink. Twenty-seven cards offered here are from the black bat series; only one has the Fan Club panel, #15. The cards without the panel are #2, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 16, 21, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 39, 41, 42, 44, 46, 48, 49 and 50. Another eight cards are from the red bat “A” set of 44: #6A, 10A, 12A, 24A, 25A, 27A, 43A and 44A.
