Lot 263. 50 Photos of Brooklyn Dodgers Including Vintage Wire Photos. This photos are primarily on 8” x 10” glossy photo stock. The earliest photo, from 1932, shows Hall of Fame outfielder Max Carey, the Brooklyn manager, instructing a group of young pitchers at spring training. Among them are Vickers, Mungo, Mattingly, Gallivan and Crider. This 8” x 10” Type 1 photo is ex with a chip in the upper right corner outside the image area. Tom Tatum and Tom Drake are sharply in focus in a 1941 7” x 9” photo from Wide World Photos, 1” edge tear, otherwise ex. An 8” x 10” Barney Stein 1944 photo shows Gil English, Luis Olmo, Gene Mauch and Howie Schultz, ex. The 18-year-old Mauch appeared in only 15 games with the Dodgers. Wire photos of the 1950s, all 8” x 10” with the caption, show Carl Erskine after recording his 20 th win with Roy Campanella and Wayne Belardi (1953, AP, ex); HoF manager Walt Alston, about to make his major league managerial debut, with Erskine (1954, AP, vg+ to ex), and Duke Snider, in the locker room after the Dodgers captured their first World Championship (1955, AP, ex). A 5” x 7” photo from the early 1950s depicts the Dodgers before a game at Ebbets Field; Campanella is clearly visible, ex. Three wire photos are 1970s facsimiles: 1971, Eddie Stanky, French Bordagaray, Rube Marquard, Van Lingle Mungo, Erskine and Babe Herman at a piano, vg+; 1972, Gil Hodges, Campanella, Jackie Robinson, Snider and Carl Furillo in a 1953 photo issued at Hodges’ death, ex; and 1973, Ralph Miller, who broke in with the Dodgers in 1898, at his passing. Among the reproduction photos, all 8” x 10”, are the 1941, 1942, 1949, 1952 and 1955 teams and an aerial of Ebbets Field; b&w photos of Furillo, Marquard, Hodges (2 different), Campanella, Reiser, Reese (2), Abrams (sepia), Snider (2 diff.), Drysdale, Alston, Durocher, Cadore, Grimes and Carey. There also are 8” x 10” photos of Campanella’s home run in the 1953 World Series and a composite with Podres, Campanella, Erskine, Snider, Hodges and Reese. Color repro photos show Roe and Podres; Reese; Snider, Hodges, Campanella and Furillo; Erskine; Snider, and Campanella. Also: Eight sepia lithographed 11” x 14” photos of Drysdale, Koufax, Campanella, Camilla, Robinson, Reiser, Campanella after hitting a home run, and Snider, Campanella, Reese and Snider. An 11” x 14” photo of the exterior of Ebbets Field. And an 11” x 14” color photo of the 1955 World Series Champions.
