Lot 236.  1939 Athletics at Yankees Scorecard. The 10-page scorecard has baseball’s centennial logo on the cover and is neatly scored in pencil inside for an 8-2 Yankees’ victory on May 27. Lefty Gomez improved his record to 2-2. A split along the spine is extensive, and the front and back covers are held together with tape neatly placed inside, which the pages are separated from the covers. There are chips in the lower right corner and along the outer edge.

Lot 237.  1940 Cincinnati at Philadelphia Program. Ex 12-page unscored “Second Number” program with a full-page photos of Hugh Mulcahyand Emmett Mueller inside. There is a light to moderate stain on the back cover.

Lot 238.  Indians Scorecards, 1941-45, 1947 and 1948, Doby Images, a 1956 Yearbook, Etc. Fifteen Cleveland Indians publications. The 1956 yearbook is vg. Bob Feller autographed his photo inside; Kevin Keating authenticated the signature. The scorecards are for 1941 vs. Washington, scored, ex. 1947 vs. the St. Louis Browns, partially scored, Feller pitched, Doby pictured as the A.L.’s first black player, vg. 1948 vs. Boston, scored, vg+ to ex, Ted Williams in the pre-printed lineup, Larry Doby pictured (full page) and penciled in as a pinch hitter. 1950 vs. Detroit, scored, ex. 1951 vs. Washington, Easter, Rosen, Doby and Wynn pictured, ex-m+. 1952 vs. St. Louis, ex. 1955 vs. Washington, ex. 1960 vs. Boston, two different, both scored, ex. 1966 vs. Boston, Colavito pictured, ex+. 1967 vs. New York, scored, ex. 1979 vs. Texas, ex. 1982 vs. Chicago, vg+ to ex. 1995, ALCS vs. Seattle, vg+ to ex. Also, a 1981 Indians Cactus League program, ex, signed by two Seattle Mariners, Frank Funk and West Stock.

Lot 239.  1943 Lancaster Red Roses Program Featuring George Kell (HoF) as the Team’s MPP. In 1943, for the second consecutive season, Lancaster fans selected Kell as the team’s Most Popular Player. He was one of the top stars of the Inter-State league that year, collecting 220 hits and batting .396. Kell is pictured in the 32-page vg program, which has stains on the front and back cover. Several other major leaguers also are shown – Billy DeMars, Lew Krausse, Steve Gerkin, Paul Kardow and Les McCrabb. Scarce program. Kell entered the Hall of Fame in 1983.

Lot 240.  Rare 1943 Program for the Philadelphia Athletics vs. Phillies “City Series” Game. Hall of Fame managers Connie Mack and Bucky Harris share the cover of this 12-page unscored program. Ex-m. Roger Wolff, Luman Harris, Johnny Podgajny and Danny Murtaugh are shown in full-page photos inside.

Lot 241.  Detroit at Chicago June 1945 Scorecard. This scorecard is scored, although for what game is unclear. It is dated June 17 and shows a 7-1 Chicago win with Haynes and Orval Grove pitching. In reality, Lee pitched and won for the Sox that day, 6-1. Box scores have been added to the scorecard for a 6-1 loss on June 16 and a 7-5 win on June 17. A small photo of Grove is inside. Vg-ex.

Lot 242.  1945 Athletics at White Sox Scorecard. Vg+ to ex, neatly scored in pencil, a small “8” on the front cover and two copies of the box score added inside. Philadelphia’s George Kell collected two hits and drove in three runs as the A’s defeated Chicago and Ed Lopat, 5-2.

Lot 243.  May 13, 1945 Washington Senators at Chicago White Sox Scorecard. Unscored, the scorecard has the box score glued inside. Toning inside and a small “10” on the front cover; otherwise, ex.

Lot 244.  1945 Red Sox at White Sox Scorecard. Boston won, 9-8. Neatly scored in pencil, the scorecard has the box score glued inside, along with two rain checks. Vg-ex with a very small “11” written on the front cover.

Lot 245.  June 7, 1945 St. Louis Browns at Chicago Scorecard Featuring Pete Gray. The one-armed outfielder collected two hits in four at bats and scored a run as the Brown defeated the White Sox, 6-2. The program is neatly scored in blue pencil. Inside, the scoring is surrounded by the box score and articles related to the game, including a photo of Gray. A small article points out that Gray’s real name was Peter Wyshner. The scorecard has multiple vertical creases, and “Duplicate Copy on Pete Gray” is written on the front cover.

Lot 246.  1945 New York Yankees at Chicago White Sox Scorecord. Unscored, light to moderate toning inside, “#2” in pencil inside and small “34” on the cover suggest it’s for the second game of a July 1 or July 2 doubleheader. Vg-ex.

Lot 247.  1945 Chicago White Sox Scorecard Scored for an Aug. 16 Game vs. Boston. The scorecard was created for a Yankees game, but the owner adapted it for a game in which the White Sox defeated the Red Sox, 11-3. It is neatly scored in pencil with the Red Sox lineup added. Some pencil doodles decorate the inside, and a small “45” is on the front cover. Vg-ex.

Lot 248.  Aug. 28, 1945 Cleveland at Chicago Scorecard. Unscored, box score and the teams’ batting averages added inside, along with two rain checks for the night game, tape along the spine and a tape repair of one of two tears on the back, a small “49” on the front cover.
