Autograph of Pilot Robert Morgan on a Scale Model of the “Memphis Belle.” The subject of at least two movies, the B-17 “Memphis Belle” Flying Fortress is perhaps the most famous U.S. aircraft of World War II. Part of the U.S. Eighth Air Force, the bomber became the first to completed 25 missions in Europe and then returned home to support the war. Morgan, who piloted the plane through the 25 missions, named it for his Memphis girl friend. He passed away in 2004. His signature in silver is a large, bold 10. The model has a 23” wing span and is 17” from nose to tail. Nm-m. Authenticate by Kevin Keating.
