Stereoview of the 1893 Football Game Between National Champion Princeton and Yale.
Lot 146. Stereoview of the 1893 Football Game Between National Champion Princeton and Yale. Two football powerhouses met in New York City on Thanksgiving Day in 1893 to determine the top team in the country. Each team was undefeated after 10 games. Yale had yielded only six points while scoring 330; Princeton had outscored its opponents, 264-14. As is often the case in such games, strong defenses stifled high-scoring offenses. The Tigers eked out a 6-0 victory to capture the mythical national title. Published by Strohmeyer & Wyman Publishers of New York, the stereoview presents two strong sepia photos that show the crowd and game action. Ex-m.
Winning Bid $88.
