Lot 5.  Stunning, Large ORIGINAL Painting Signed by Roberts, Niekro, Jenkins and Smith. You may recognize this outstanding painting from CCA28. Since it did not receive the minimum bid, our consignor said “Lower the minimum bid and sell it!” This acrylic-on-canvas painting, about 41 ½” x 71” framed to 46 ½” x 77”, is by former major leaguer Gene Locklear. He has created two images each of Robin Roberts, Phil Niekro, Fergie Jenkins and Ozzie Smith. They surround the Baseball Hall of Fame logo and a Little League player. Each Hall of Fame player has placed a large autograph next to one of his images. Locklear had a five-season MLB career as an outfielder with the Reds, Padres and Yankees. He played also in Japan. A full-blooded Lumbee, he paints Native American portraits and scenes, as well as sports subjects. He created this painting at a Hall of Fame Baseball Fantasy Camp. The player autographs are gem mint 10s authenticated by Kevin Keating. This painting would be a dramatic presence in a number of settings – the entrance to corporate or attorneys’ offices, an upscale bar, the offices of a sports franchise or a family room. Absolutely unique! NOTE: This lot will need to be delivered by freight. The price to Zone 10 (California) would be approximately $485.
