Lot 70. 1955 Pirates Yearbook with Clemente (Rookie), Other Yearbooks, Programs, Etc. This yearbook got it right when it wrote of Roberto Clemente: “The Pirates drafted him…and may have picked up a real prize. Only 20, he has everything but experience, and his success in the majors appears only a question of time.” Clemente shares page 20 of the 48-page yearbook with Preston Ward. G+ to vg, spine rubbed but not split, vg+ to ex pages with writing on one (not Clemente’s). The other yearbooks are from 1968 vg+ to ex, 1993 (2), one ex+ and one nm+, and 1994 (2), both nm-m. The programs represent 1974 vs. LA, neatly scored and vg+ to ex; 1975 vs. the Cubs, v+ and signed on the cover by Bill Mazeroski, Chuck Tanner and Steve Blass, and 1976, scorecard absent. Also, a 1976 Pirates media guide, vg, and three 1979 World Series media guides vs. the Orioles, two scored for at least one game, vg-ex. The 1955 yearbook turns up relatively infrequently.
