Bill Veeck Signed Autobiography – Veeck as in Wreck.
Lot 122. Bill Veeck Signed Autobiography – Veeck as in Wreck. Written with Ed Linn, the book recounts the “chaotic career of baseball’s incorrigible maverick.” Veeck was one of baseball’s great innovators and promoters. His innovations and successes with the Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Browns and Chicago White Sox earned him a place in the Hall of Fame in 1991, five years after his death. Veeck’s signature is mint 9 to gem mint 10 on the flyleaf, which shows light, somewhat uneven toning. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. The 1962 hardcover book, an apparent first edition, is g-vg; it shows minor effects from exposure to moisture, and on the back, the dust jacket is partially adhered to the cover. If excised, the signature would display very nicely. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.
Winning Bid $83.
