Lot 131.  Autograph of George H. Allen, Hall of Fame Coach, on a 1966 Newspaper Photo. Allen was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002 based on his success as a coach with the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins. In the 5” x 6” b&w newspaper photo, Allen is pictured in his first season with the Rams. He transformed the team into title contenders. In 1972, he took the Redskins to the Super Bowl. He retired with the third best winning percentage among NFL coaches, and his teams never had a losing season. Allen passed away in 1990, His signature on the newspaper photo is a bold, unimprovable gem mint 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 132.  1937 Eagles Check Signed by Two Future NFL Commissioners – Bell and Storck. From 1939-41, Carl Storck served as the third Commissioner of the National Football League. (Bert) de Benneville Bell held the position, as the fifth Commissioner, from 1946 until his death in 1959. Bell signed the front of the “Philadelphia Eagles Pro Football Check,” which is made out to the “National Professional Football League.” Storck signed the back “Carl L. H. Storck, V.P. & Treas.” Bell was admitted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963. Storck is one of the NFL’s more important historical figures omitted from Canton. A co-founder of the NFL, he was also the founding owner of the league’s Dayton Triangles. From 1922-26, he coached the team. He served as secretary-treasurer of the league from 1921 until he became Commissioner. Co-founder of the Eagles, Bell merged the NFL with the All-America Football Conference and contributed to the league’s growing popularity with the public. Both signatures are bold gem mints 10s. James Spence authenticated the autographs, and the check has been encased by Beckett Grading Services. Authenticated also by Kevin Keating.

Lot 133.  Henry Jordan Autographed Newspaper Photo. The 5 ¼” x 10 b&w photo from 1966 shows four Los Angeles Rams headed in the direction of the Green Bay Packers’ Hall of Fame defensive lineman. Jordan signed in ballpoint over his image. While the autograph is strong, the contrast against the background is moderate. The signature has the appearance of an ex-m 6. Jordan was a defensive leader on the Packers teams that won the first two Super Bowls. He died at age 42 in 1977. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1995. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 134.  1955 Sports Illustrated Issues Signed by Doak Walker and His Wife, Skeeter Werner. Walker was a Hall of Fame halfback for SMU and then for the Detroit Lions. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1948. His signature on the Oct. 3 issue in blue sharpie rates 10 of 10. His wife, an Olympic skier, also signed in blue sharpie, “Skeeter Werner Walker.” Her signature on the Nov. 21 issue is also a 10. The issue with Doak is ex+, and the issue with Skeeter, nm, both with mailing labels. Gladys “Skeeter” Werner Walker was the oldest child in the famous Werner family that included Olympians Buddy and Loris. She competed in the 1956 Olympics and met Doak while teaching him to ski in 1968. Ironically, Doak died in 1998 of complications from injuries he received in a skiing accident. Skeeter died in 2001. Lot 135.  Football Collection of 140+ Autographs Including Hall of Fame Players. More than 90 of the autographs are in the official program for the 1993 Pro Bowl Game played in Hawaii. Inside the program, which is vg-ex with better pages than covers, 50 players and the head coaches signed images of their GameDay football cards. The autographs are overwhelmingly 9s and 10s. Signing for the NFC were Eric Allen, Morten Andersen, Lomas Brown, Rich Camarillo, Chris Doleman, Brett Favre, Rodney Hampton, Joel Hilgenberg, Pierce Holt, Rickey Jackson, Vaughan Johnson, Brent Jones, Wilber Marshall, Randall McDaniel, Tim McDonald, Guy McIntyre, Sam Mills (died 2005), Nate Newton, Andre Rison, Todd Scott, Sterling Sharpe, Elbert Shelley, Pat Swilling, Gary Zimmerman and George Seifert. And for the AFC: Howard Ballard, Michael Brooks, Gill Byrd, Ray Childress, Bryan Cox, Curtis Duncan, Barry Foster, Ernest Givins, Harold Green, Carlton Haselrig, Haywood Jeffires, Henry Jones, Cortez Kennedy, Nick Lowery, Dan Marino, Anthony Miller, Mike Munchak, Andre Reed, Al Smith, Bruce Smith, Neil Smith, Derrick Thomas (d. 2000), Clarence Verdin, Richmond Webb, Lorenzo White, Rod Woodson and Don Shula. The “cards” are four to a page, and individual cards or pages could be displayed. Elsewhere in the program, there are at least 40 additional autographs, including Joe Tofflemire, Richard Dent and Ray Sherman, Four signatures are on photos: Rob Carpenter on photocopies, 2 different; Joe Morris, photo print, Wilbert Montgomery, color photo. Terry Hoage signed the seating list for a College Hall of Fame event; he is a member. There also is an autograph of LeShon Johnson. The other signatures are on four 8 ½” x 11” pages: Los Angeles Rams page - Jack Youngblood, Coy Bacon, Henry Ellard, Doug Bryant, Johnnie Johnson, John Robinson, Otis Grant, John Misko, Carl Ekern, Greg Meisner, Howard Carson, Robert Alexander, Vince Ferragamo, LeRoy Irvin, Vincent Newsome, Nolan Cromwell, Mike Barber and Gordon Jones. Another pages has Rick Bishop, Vince Ferragamo and Kent Hull. Miami Dolphins - Bob Kuchenberg, Reggie Roby (d. 2005), Vince Hefflin, Glenn Blackwood, Lyle Blackwood, Robert Sowell and David Overstreet. And Atlanta Falcons - William Andrews, Richard Williams, Billy WhiteShoes, Rich Dixon, John Harper, Dave Frye, Stacey Bailey, Dave Levenick, Mike Kenn, Jeff Yeates, Buddy Curry, Don Smith, R C Thielemann, Lynn Cain, Ralph Giacommaro, Mike Pitts, Mike Moroski, Tom Pridemore, Willie Curran and Gerald Riggs. Lot 152.  Autographs of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ “Steel Curtain” on an NFL Football. In the 1970s, Joe Greene, L C Greenwood, Dwight White and Ernie Holmes, Pittsburgh’s Front Four, dominated offenses throughout the NFL. All four have signed white panels of an official NFL Tagliabue football. The signatures are nm-m 8 and stand out very well on the white panels. Both White and Holmes passed away last year. The football comes in a plastic display with a panel saying “Pittsburgh Steelers Steel Curtain Defense.” Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 153.  Jack Lambert Signed Official NFL Tagliabue Football. Unimprovable large, bold gem mint 10 autograph that essentially fills the whole panel below the logo panel. The Hall of Fame Steelers linebacker signed the panel in silver sharpie and added “#58” and “HOF ’90.” Comes with a plastic football display case. Impressive! Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
