Lot 271. 49 Vintage ¾” Pinbacks from Several Sets Featuring International Flags. These pins are from at least three sets, apparently from the 1940s and 1950s. Six circa 1950s pins are from Green Duck of Chicago. They include an Egyptian flag used from 1923-52. This pin is #36; it is the only numbered pin in the group. These pins average vg-ex. A pin advertising “Awful Fresh: McFarlane Candy is Gooder” on the back has on the front the flag China used until 1949, and now represents Taiwan, ex. Among the other pins, which carry no manufacturer identification, there are a few duplicates. An Egyptian flag was used 1805-1922. There is a flag for the Czeko-Slovak Republic, which existed from 1918-38. Twenty-four of these pins are ex or better, including some that are nm. The other 18 average vg. Among the countries represented are the United States, Corea (sic), Switzerland, the Philippines, France, Canada, Great Britain, Panama, Cuba, Liberia, Persia, Congo, Iceland, Hungary, Tonga, Latvia, Greece, Congo, Poland and Morocco.
