Lot 256.  Huge Baseball Hobby Publications Collection – Baseball Cards, Early Beckett Guides. A complete run of 75 Krause Baseball Cards magazines, from the first issue through Dec. 1991, is one of two anchors in this collection. Published in the spring of 1981, the inaugural issue is an nm beauty with cards of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Honus Wagner, Willie Mays and Dave Winfield on the cover. The remaining issues average nm to nm-m. Eight issues covering Jan.-Aug. 1989 are an exception; all of them have a vertical “bow.” There also are six issues from 1992. The first 10 editions of Beckett’s Sport American Baseball Card Price Guide, spanning 1979-88, provide a second anchor. Guide No. 1 from 1979 is the first printing, without the familiar “Baseball Card” logotype. Ex-m. The other editions average ex-m to nm. All are paperback books. Five other Beckett books are included: the 1982 Baseball Memorabilia guide, the 1988 Baseball Collectibles guide, the 1979 Baseball Card Alphabetical Checklist and two copies of the Baseball Address List, for 1980 and 1982. These softcover books average ex-m+. There also are two small-format guides and the 1986 Baseball Rookie Card Checklist #3 from Tom Daniels, nm. Twenty-nine issues of Beckett Baseball Card Monthly, ranging from June 1987-March 1991, are included. They average nm. Also, two copies of the Oct. 1983 The New Trader Speaks, nm. Premier issue of Topps Magazine, Winter 1990, nm-m. Baseball Hobby News free samples from 1985, 1987 and 1988, ex. Issues of The Trader Speaks, which average ex, are from Sept.-Dec. 1974, Jan.-Sept. 1975, May, July, Sept. and Nov. 1978, Jan.-April 1979 and Jan. 1983. There are 35 issues of the Autograph Review, which average vg: 1979 (4 issues), 1980 (5), 1981 (5), 1982 (5), 1983 (6), 1984 (3), 1985 (6) and 1986 (Jan.). Lot 258.  102 Issues of The Wrapper Non-Sport Publication Spanning 1996-2008. For more than 30 years, The Wrapper has been the premier publication for non-sport cards. This collection consists of a run of 97 issues from #140 published for July 1-Aug. 15, 1996, through #236 from July1-Aug. 15, 2008. In addition, there are duplicate copies of #142, 163 and 165-167. The issues average ex-m with a few vg issues and more nm or better copies. Generally, each issue has 76 or more pages. These publications provide a history of non-sport card collecting, including articles, checklists, photos and advertisements. They are useful for research and make for interesting reading.
