Lot 145. 7 1940s-50s Cleveland Browns Programs, 3 Representing the AAFC. Two of the All-American Football Conference programs are for the Browns’ game with the Los Angeles Dons at the LA Coliseum on Nov. 25, 1948. The program are identical, except that they have different covers. In addition, the program with Larry Tisdale cover artwork has a tipped-in postcard for ordering season tickets to the Dons’ games. The program with the Lon Keller cover does not. Each program has a full-page b&w action photo of Len Ford with a facsimile signature. Ford, who joined the Dons out of Michigan in 1948, became a member of the Browns in 1950. The 22-page programs also picture Glen Dobbs, Jim Phelan, Herm Wedemeyer and Paul Brown. The program with the Tisdale cover is nm, and the other, ex with a ¾” spine split. The 1948 Browns went undefeated and won their third straight AAFC championship. The other program is for a 1947 game vs. Buffalo, vg+ (ex+ pages) with a pencil checkmark on the front cover. Otto Graham, Marion Motley and Lou Rymkus are among those pictured in the 54-page program. Two programs are for 1950, the Browns’ first season in the NFL; they continued their winning ways by capturing the league championship. The first is for an exhibition game with the Lions, vg-ex, at Akron, and the second, for a game against the Bears, p (and we mean it!) with many pages cut and the cover largely detached. Players pictured in these programs include Graham, Motley, Dante Lavelli, Lou Groza, Doak Walker, Leon Hart, Sid Luckman and George Blanda. The two 1959 programs are for games vs. the Chicago Cardinals and the Eagles, one ex and one vg-ex. Jim Brown is pictured in each. There also is a 1968 program for the Playoff Classic, the Browns vs. the LA Rams, in the Orange Bowl. Ex+ 40-page program. A total of seven programs.
