Lot 215. Run of 53 Sporting News Baseball Registers from the First in 1940 Through 1991. Uninterrupted run that begins with the hardbound inaugural issue; vg+ to ex with Ty Cobb on the original paperback cover inside. The 1941 (vg+), 1942 (DiMaggio cover, ex-m) and 1944 (Willard Mullin artwork, ex) are also in hardcover format. The others are softcover, including 1943 vg with writing on the cover; 1945 regular and media editions, both vg; 1946 vg with a chipped corner, 1947-49 vg and 1950 (DiMaggio cover) good-looking vg cover with two 1 ½” spine tears. Editions for 1951-55 average vg; the 1955 issue has heavy taping along the spine. For 1956-64, the issues average ex; and for 1965-70, g. Overall, the 1971-91 issues are ex-m+ with some slightly lower in grade and many better.
