Lot 204. Rare Deluxe Edition of Professional Baseball in America (1926) by Leslie M. O’Connor. This 192-page softcover publication was produced by the Baseball Commissioner's Office (Judge Landis). It is subtitled The Official Playing Rules and the Agreements and rules defining the relation of Leagues, Clubs and Players. Apparently the publication was issued in 1921, 1924, 1926, 1928, 1934 and 1936. Very few of these publications seem to have survived, and they generally have paper covers. This copy has leather covers with gold stamping, including the name “Art Carlson,” probably the sportswriter for the Newspaper Enterprise Association, the first news service to provide features stories, illustrations and cartoons to newspapers. Beautiful ex-m to nm copy. The leather shows minor rubbing along the spine, and up close, the leather reveals some very light surface creases from aging, not use.
