Lot 172. Rare Autographed Sam Rice 1926 Sports Co. of America “Champions” Card. Ex+ card with a mint 9 signature of the Hall of Fame outfielder authenticated by Kevin Keating. Rice was a good hitter who was fast in the outfield and had a strong arm. He concluded his career with 2,987 base hits and a .322 batting average. He never hit below .293. Although a leadoff batter for much of his career, he nevertheless drove in 1,078 runs. He seldom struck out, and his strikeout ratio is among baseball’s 10 best. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1963. He died in 1974. The card alone is worth more than our
