Lot 241. Scarce Program for the 1953 NFL Championship Game – Lions vs. Browns. Playing on home turf at Briggs Stadium, Detroit captured its second straight NFL title with a 17-16 win over Cleveland. The covers of the 64-page program are detached, and the front cover has writing on it and a 2” tear. The pages are complete and ex overall; the center spread is loose. There are pencil notations on the rosters. The program pictures numerous stars, including Layne, Walker, Christiansen, Lary, McGraw, Schmidt, Creekmur and Hart for Detroit and Graham, Willis, Renfro, Lavelli, Ford, Groza, Motley, Atkins, Gatski and Michaels for Cleveland. This example may not win any beauty contests, but then, there aren’t many of these beauties around, either!
