Lot 224. 60 Negatives of Ted Williams by Don Wingfield from a 1971 Topps Photo Session. Outstanding collection of 60 black & white negatives and four color slides by the Washington, D.C. photographer. During baseball’s “Golden Era,” Wingfield worked for The Sporting News, the Washington Senators and Topps. He also freelanced for dozens of outlets, including Life, Look and other major national magazines. Using the results of his work, he produced a series of postcards of players from 1955 through 1960. These negatives and slides, taken during a 1971 session for Topps, will yield as host of enjoyable and collectible photo images of the Splendid Splinter as manager of the Senators.
