Lot 206. Framed Boston Braves 1914 World Series Newspaper Page. The “Miracle Braves” swept the Philadelphia Athletics behind the hitting of Hank Gowdy and the pitching of Bill James and Dick Rudolph. In 29 innings, the two pitchers allowed one earned run. The newspaper pictures the Braves’ starting lineup in batting order: Herbie Moran, Johnny Evers, Joe Connolly, Possum Whitted, Butch Schmidt, Red Smith (who did not play in the series), Rabbit Maranville, Gowdy and Rudolph. The newspaper has chips along the edges. The frame is 23” x 27 ½”.
