Lot 163. Willie Stargell Autograph Collection – 1979 W.S. Ticket, Bat, Ball, Mini Helmet. Stargell was the MVP as the Pittsburgh Pirates won the 1979 World Series, and his signature is on a two-part ticket stub for Game 7 of the series. The stub is nm, and Stargell’s signature, nm-m 8. The other signatures are gem mint 10s – on an ONL Coleman baseball, a Riddell Pittsburgh Pirates mini helmet and a Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick 34” Professional Model. The three signed items are at least nm-m. The 1979 Pirates were the “We Are Family” team that made Sister Sledge famous, or maybe vice versa. These Pirates were also the last team to win a major sports championship in enemy territory until the Pittsburgh Penguins equaled the feat this year in Detroit. Stargell’s home run off Jim Palmer won the 1979 World Championship for Pittsburgh. Autographs authenticated by Kevin Keating. The signed ticket is rare and worth a premium bid!
