Rare Autograph of Stanley Coveleski as “Stanislaus Kowalewski” on a Baseball.
Lot 159. Rare Autograph of Stanley Coveleski as “Stanislaus Kowalewski” on a Baseball. Extremely rare version of his signature using his birth-name on an unofficial ball that is ex-m to nm, off-white to white with a few very small brown spots. Coveleski died in 1984, and single-signed balls from him rarely surface. This one was signed for a long-time baseball writer and comes with his letter attesting to the fact that he handed the ball to Coveleski and asked him to sign it specifically using his birth name. Coveleski then printed his name so large that it spans two panels and travels through the sweet spot. The printed signature in red is nm-m 8 to mint 9 and stands out well on the ball. It may take a lifetime of searching to find another! Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $218.
