Lot 391. Wire Photos of Che Guevara, Solzhenitsyn Plus a 45 RPM Record Honoring JFK. These subjects represent widely divergent points on the political continuum. Guevara, the Cuban revolutionary, is shown in an original 1961 UPI wire photo welcoming to Cuba a delegation from China. The 7” x 9” photo has creases at the corners; vg-ex with an ex appearance. A 1974 UPI 7” x 9” wire photo captures author Alexander I. Solzhenitsyn just after he was kicked out of the Soviet Union for writing The Gulag Archipelago. He is pictured with Heinrich Boell, the German author who won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1972. Nm. A rare Elgin record pays tribute to President John F. Kennedy. Titled “Lead the Way JFK,” it was released late in 1963 and features the Angelic Choir. Nm. Also, a UPI 8” x 10” wire photo of Chicago’s Tribune Tower, g-vg.
