1944 Saint Louis Browns at Cardinals World Series Program “Scored” for Game 1.

Lot 479. 1944 Saint Louis Browns at Cardinals World Series Program “Scored” for Game 1. The World Series played entirely at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis opened with a pitcher’s duel between the Cards’ Mort Cooper and the Browns’ Denny Galehouse. In seven innings, Cooper yielded only two hits, but they resulted in two runs, enough for a Browns’ victory. Galehouse give up seven hits, but only one Cardinals’ runner scored. Newspaper clippings capturing details of the game are pasted over advertising inside this 36-page program. The clippings include the box score, a play-by-play account and a photo with the opposing pitchers. There are eight separate clippings. The program is ex, and the clippings give it a lot of character!
