Lot 479. 1944 Saint Louis Browns at Cardinals World Series Program “Scored” for Game 1. The World Series played entirely at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis opened with a pitcher’s duel between the Cards’ Mort Cooper and the Browns’ Denny Galehouse. In seven innings, Cooper yielded only two hits, but they resulted in two runs, enough for a Browns’ victory. Galehouse give up seven hits, but only one Cardinals’ runner scored. Newspaper clippings capturing details of the game are pasted over advertising inside this 36-page program. The clippings include the box score, a play-by-play account and a photo with the opposing pitchers. There are eight separate clippings. The program is ex, and the clippings give it a lot of character!
