Lot 429.  15 Original Issues of Lew Lipset’s Old Judge Newsletter Including the First. Lew remains one of the top very few contributors to the development of baseball card collecting. Beginning in the spring of 1985 and continuing well into 1994, he published a periodic newsletter in which he updated checklists, traced the history of various card issues and provided commentary, often controversial, on the status of the hobby. This collection includes the first issue, as well as issues 9 from 1987; 25 from 1989; 31-33 from 1990, 35 and 39-41 from 1991, 42-46 from 1992, 47/8 1993 and 50 (the last issue) for 1994. There also is a photocopy of issue 26 from 1989. Average read issues with writing on one.

Subtitled The Standard Guide on All Collected Cards and Their Values, this ground-breaking reference covers the earliest of advertising cards to gum cards and everything in between. Lot 433.  Run of 36 Issues of The Vintage & Classic Baseball Collector, 1995-2003. For most of a decade, this magazine served as an important resource for collectors of vintage baseball cards. Dennis Purdy Sr. was the editor and publisher from the debut issue in March 1995 through issue #23 in Dec. 2000. Don Betz then took over the publication. This collection includes issues 1-36 (July 2003) plus #37 from June 2004. Ex to ex-m.
