Lot 333. 300+ Airplane Spotter Cards and 40+ Tank Spotter Cards. The airplane cards are from four different sets, three of which appear to be World War II vintage. The only identifiable source is the Royal Observer Corps Club. In this group of 4 ½” x 3 ¼” cards in a horizontal format, each plane is represented by three different cards, designated, for example, “63, 63A and 63B.” Besides the number, the backs identify the club and credit “The Aeroplane.” Most of the cards from 63-115 are present. The three other groups of airplane cards are in a vertical format. A group of 3” x 4 ½” cards is numbered 1-40. Thirty-seven are present. These cards have blank backs. Twenty-eight 3” x 5” cards have three airplane silhouettes in a vertical format on one side and photos of the planes in a horizontal format on the other side. The Corsair, the P-51 Mustang and the Messerschmitt are represented. Finally, a group of 4” x 5 ¼” blank-backed cards has three images. Many have writing on the back. This group contains duplicates.
