Baseball Display Boxes & Wrappers   4 Lots

Lot 111.  Large 1930s-80s Wax Pack Wrapper Collection – More Than 200, Mostly Baseball. Prices for vintage wax pack wrappers have been rising. A few of the wrappers exhibit tears and or chips. Overall, they are very nice with only the usual folds. A variety of sports are represented. The wrappers include: 1933 Goudey Sport Kings, 1952 Berk Ross Baseball, 1969 Topps Baseball,1970 Topps Super Baseball, 1972 Topps Baseball (2), 1973 Topps Baseball, 1977 Topps Baseball, 1979 Topps Baseball (10), 1980 Topps Baseball (10), 1980 Topps Football (10), 1981 Topps Baseball (30), 1981 Donruss Baseball (30), 1981 Fleer Baseball (30), 1981-82 Topps Basketball (3), 1982 Topps Baseball (3), 1982 Fleer Baseball (5), 1982 Donruss Baseball (50) with Babe Ruth pictured on wrapper, 1983 Fleer Baseball (15). These wrappers range in age from 25 to 75 years. Typically they were discarded.
Winning Bid $113.

Lot 112.  1957 Topps 5-Cent Baseball Wax Pack Display Box. This box is colorful, complete and intact. It once held 24 1957 Topps Baseball 5-cent wax packs. There is some inoffensive creasing and a bit of tape on the top inside flap that does not detract from the overall appearance of this exceptional display box. For whatever reason, 1957 display boxes just don’t turn up very often. The World’s Best Unopened Pack, Wrapper & Display Box Guide values the 1957 5-cent box at $650.
Winning Bid $201.

Lot 113.  2 1960s Topps Baseball 5-Cent Display Boxes – 1962 Wax Pack and 1969 Stamps. The 1962 box has a few bits of tape, some incidental creasing and a bit of paper loss. None of it affects the presentation of this colorful display box. The 1969 Baseball Stamps box is very rare. This is the first that we have offered. This colorful box has some incidental creasing and tape. Representations of the Mays, McLain, B. Gibson, Yastrzemski and Rose stamps are pictured on the lid. Vintage display boxes are tough to find and very desirable.
Winning Bid $121.

Lot 114.  Topps 5-Cent Wax Pack Display Boxes – 1962 Football, 1964 Baseball Giants. For whatever reason, each of these display boxes is among the more difficult of the Topps display boxes to find. Although the top of the 1962 football box is separated from the bottom, the box is complete. There are separations at some of the seams, and there is some minor creasing, along with minor ink coloration, at the top right corner. There is a small amount of clear tape as well. The box possesses strong, vibrant colors and superb graphics that make for a presentation that is truly powerful. The 1964 Giants box is complete, colorful and intact. Whitey Ford is pictured on the top next to a baseball with text that reads “Giant-Size All-Stars Bubble Gum.” A price of 5 cents is indicated. There is a small, insignificant ½” hole in the lid, a ½” scratch and a few light inoffensive creases. None of these affect the overall presentation of the box, which displays beautifully. In the 1960s, display boxes were typically discarded; consequently, they are very scarce. Often selling for several hundred dollars a piece, they generally are considered to be undervalued.
Winning Bid $92.
