Lot 21.  Complete Set of 6 Circa 1910 PC798-44 Valentine & Sons Comic Baseball PCs. These colorful cards have undivided backs tjat say “Printed in Great Britain.” Three cards are ex+, two with minor stains or stray pencil marks on the back; one is vg-ex, and two are vg. This is one of the more difficult comic postcard sets to complete.

Lot 101.  1962 Omaha Dodgers Complete Set of 22. Only 1,000 of these sets were produced. The 3 3/8” x 4 ¼” cards feature black and white photos of 21 individual players and their manager, Danny Ozark. They have facsimile autographs. On 21 of the 22 cards, player names, positions or both are written in pencil on the otherwise blank backs. The set includes Curt Roberts, the first African-American to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The card fronts are nm-m beauties.

Lot 102.  1970 Fleer World Series Complete Set of 66 and 1971-80 Fleer World Series Near Set – 73 of 75 + a Bonus. The 1970 set grades ex to ex+ overall and would grade much higher with a bit of improved centering. The overall condition of the 1971-80 set is ex-m to nm. Four of the cards are graded by PSA. They are: #10 EX-MT 6, 13 MINT 9 (oc), 61 NM 7 and 74 NM 7. The two missing cards are #25 1927 Yankees-Pirates and 43 1945 Tigers-Cubs. The final seven cards in the set, which are key, grade as follows: Nm+ #69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 75. PSA NM 7 #74. As a bonus, we are including a complete 28-card 1975 Fleer Pioneers of Baseball set. This set grades ex-m+ to nm overall.

Lot 103.  6 1970s Baseball Sets and Near Sets – Topps, Laughlin, Islay’s-Sweet William. 1. 1978 Topps Near Set – 721 of 726. The overall condition is ex-m to nm. Missing cards are: #6 Ryan record breaker, 34 McCovey, 36 Murray rookie, 400 Ryan and 707 Molitor rookie. Some key cards include: #20 Rose ex-m, 40 Yastrzemski nm, 60 Munson nm, 100 Brett ex-m, 200 Jackson ex-m, 360 Schmidt ex-m, 450 Seaver ex-m+, 530 Winfield nm, 540 Carlton nm and 700 Bench ex-m+. 2. 1979 Topps Comics complete set of 33. The typical folds are present; otherwise, ex-m overall. 3. 1976 Islay’s-Sweet William complete disc set of 70 with an extra Johnny Bench. This set is loaded with stars including Aaron, Bench, Brock, Carew, Jackson, Morgan, Munson, Palmer, B. Robinson, F. Robinson, Rose, Ryan, Schmidt, Seaver and Yastrzemski. The overall condition is nm-m. 4. 1972 Laughlin Great Feats near set (blue) – 50 of 51. The sets grades nm overall. The missing card is #50 Maris. Six of the cards have been graded by PSA. They are #7 NM 7, 16 NM 7, 24 EX-MT 6, 34 NM 7, 45 NM 7 and 49 NM 7. Keys to the set include: #1 DiMaggio ex-m, 8 Gehrig nm+, 32 Ruth nm-m and 33 Mantle nm. 5. 1975 Laughlin Batty Baseball complete set of 25. The set grades nm to nm-m overall. Three of the cards have been graded by PSA. They are #5 NM-MT 8, 15 NM-MT 8 and 21 NM 7. 6. 1976 Laughlin Diamond Jubilee near set – 29 of 32. The overall condition is nm to nm-m. Key cards include #1 Ryan nm+ and 32 Ruth ex-m+.

Lot 105.  1973 Wichita Aeros J. P. Kelley Bank Complete Set of 21. This set is difficult to come by. Each 3 ½” x 5” card features the black and white photo of a player with his name and position printed beneath. The bank logo also appears at the bottom left. Each back has a brief player biography. The set includes Tony LaRussa as an infielder and Manager Jim Marshall. A tough set in superior condition. Nm to nm-m.

Lot 107.  1975 Hostess Twinkies Uncut Sheet Featuring the Complete Set of 60. What a find! The Sports Collectors Digest 2008 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards states: “Believed to have been issued only in selected markets, and on a limited basis at that, the 1975 Hostess Twinkies set features 60 of the cards from the “regular” Hostess set of that year.” The guide values this set in Nm at $800. Some of the card values as indicated in Nm are: #29 Rose $80, 58 Ryan $100, 80 Yount $40 and 130 Aaron $75. There are only two cards on the sheet affected by creasing: #4 Bando and 125 Madlock. The rest of the cards could be cut to MINT. What then is the value of this uncut sheet of 60 cards representing the entire set? We’re going to find out.
