Two Newspaper Photo Supple-ments on the Pittsburgh Flood of 1936.
Lot 775. Two Newspaper Photo Supple-ments on the Pittsburgh Flood of 1936. In March of 1936, Pittsburgh experienced a crippling flood. Wet snow followed by torrential rains turned downtown Pittsburgh and nearby areas into a sea for several days. A 24-page supplement to the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph, dated March 29, captures scenes of flooding not only in Pittsburgh, but in Johnstown, Pa., and Wheeling as well. The Pittsburg Press followed with a 20-page supplement filled with sepia photos of Pittsburgh flooding on April 18. Both supplements have been folded once horizontally and otherwise are vg-ex to ex. Also, four pages from the March 20 Sun-Telegraph.
Winning Bid $19.
