Lot 690. 1991, 1992 “Heisman Collection” Series I, II Cards Signed by Berwanger, Walker, Owens. There are 20 cards in each series. Series I includes Hall of Famers Earl Campbell and Tony Dorsett. Blanchard, Plunkett, Griffin, Bo Jackson, Janowicz and Lujack are other notables. Jay Berwanger is widely known as the winner of the first Heisman Trophy and the first player chosen during the NFL’s first draft. He died in 2002. His blue sharpie signature is a 10 on his black shirt. Nineteen of the 20 Series II cards are included. Larry Kelley is missing. SMU and Detroit Lions great Doak Walker signed his card. The 1948 Heisman Trophy winner, he also lettered in basketball and baseball at SMU. He was reunited with his high school teammate Bobby Layne when he joined the Lions. Walker had a Hall of Fame pro career. He died in 1998. The Walker signature is a 10. Steve Owens was the 1969 Heisman Trophy winner. He was the second Oklahoma Sooner’s player to win the award.
