Lot 618. 5 American Association Publications 1935-1951. Some of the best who ever played the game found their way to the majors via the American Association. Each publication pictures and profiles a multitude of players and teams 1. 1935 American Association on Parade, ex. “Rip” Sewell is pictured as a Louisville Colonels, and Clyde Sukeforth as a catcher for the Toledo Mud Hens. Sukeforth may be best known as the Brooklyn Dodgers scout who was instrumental in signing Jackie Robinson. Guides 2-5 are issues of Who’s Who in the American Association. 2. 1948 ex. Featured players include: Roy Campanella playing for the St. Paul Saints, Hank Bauer for the Kansas City Blues and Al Rosen playing for the Kansas City Blues. 3. 1949 no cover otherwise vg-ex: Harvey Haddix is pictured with the Columbus Red Bird, Lew Burdette with the Kansas City Blues and Jimmy Piersall with the Louisville Colonels. 4. 1950 vg: Billy Martin and Johnny Mize are featured infielders for the Kansas City Blues, Ray Dandridge and Hoyt Wilhelm are with the Minneapolis Millers. 5. 1951 ex: The great Willie Mays is pictured as a player with the Minneapolis Millers.
