Scarce Program for the 1959 Baseball All-Star Game 1 at Forbes Field.
Lot 584. Scarce Program for the 1959 Baseball All-Star Game 1 at Forbes Field. Major League Baseball initiated its experiment with two All-Star games in Pittsburgh. The N.L. won, 5-4, as Willie Mays drove in the tying and winning runs with a triple in the eighth inning against Whitey Ford. Don Drysdale, who struck out four batters in three innings, was the game’s MVP. The 136-page program is neatly scored. The front cover is ex, while the back cover has a stain. The interior is complete, ex-m and has photos of Aaron, Mays, Banks, Musial, Mantle, Williams, and many others. Nice example of a comparatively difficult program.
Winning Bid $102.
