1942 World Series Pen and Pencil Set.
Lot 632. 1942 World Series Pen and Pencil Set. The 1942 World Series featured the defending champion New York Yankees vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. The Yankees won the first game of the series. It was not an omen of things to come as the Cardinals captured the Series by winning the next four games in a row. This pen and pencil set commemorates that series. It is remarkable. Both fountain pen and pencil are in the shape of a bat and each appears to be unused. MINT! Both feature an artists rendering of a pennant in navy blue at the barrel that reads “YANKEES 1942 Cardinals.” At the center of each bat where the trademark is typically found, the words “WORLD SERIES” appear inside a red oval. The set comes inside its original mailing box.
Winning Bid $61.
